Breed characteristics
Hereford, a breed of cattle from south-west England, is known worldwide for its popularity in Great Britain, Ireland, Canada and the United States for its distinctive red coat with a white head, neck stripe and legs. The breed is distinguished by its natural heavy musculature and friendly nature, it rarely has health problems and veterinary visits are very rare on Hereford farms. They are also known for trouble-free calving, with calves weighing only 30-40 kilograms at birth and rarely requiring human assistance due to their low birth weight and fine bone structure.
